Issues with 424
#1
On my Rubicon it will pull all the way out but the little red butten doesnt snapped out to lock it in so I have to use both hands and twist and pull on the butten to get it to snap out and lock into 4x2
Whats wrong?
Thanks

Mine does the same thing, regardless of adjustment. Sometimes it will snap right out; mostly I have to rock and move the machine and try several times and pull hard to get it to lock in place when I try to take it out of 4x4. I also put a 424 unlocker on my Prarie 300 4x4 and it works perfectly every time. I have heard of others having the same problem on their Rubicons.

its not a cable issue at all, its in the 4x4 lockout control thats the problem, its happened to me twice in about 1500-1600 miles, i ride in real dusty conditions, what happens is the lever uses 2 little ball bearings that are forced out of their hole by a spring when u pull it back and lock in a channel, the problem is that dust gets in the holes the ***** travel in, the unit needs to be sealed better
soultion
take the control apart same way you assembled it when installing it on the bike, remove the brass rod that holds the cable and black lever together, by loosing and removing the large and small nut on the unit, take the unit and clean it thourghly, i use motor oil to lubricate when u i put it back together, i eve remove the 2 ***** and clean them on a wire brush as they are the problem, also the channels the ***** move on, a .22 rifle bore cleaner works well, once u know what ur doing it takes 10 minutes to do,
the disconnect will out last the control, prolly y u can buy the control seperate if need so

That sounds more like my problem
It goes out far enough to lock in 2 wheel drive u can actaully hear it click but it doesnt click and pop out all the way to lock itself in 2x4
I know how to take the controller apart but I did not install it on the machine
I bought this machine 2 weeks ago and it came with the 424
I'll take it apart today and try to clean it out

I find that to get it out of 4wd the bike has to be moving and preferably under a slight load (a gentle uphill). But, if it has 1,600 miles on it already without any previous problems, it is more likely what Bill suggests.

I have this problem eery now and then. Usually only when I'm moving. No problem getting INTO 4wd, just getting out. I need to be stopped or coasting to get it out. sometimes rock it when still But I would adjust the cable, when I first installed it it was easy and never glitched. After I mounted it i had to take it apart to get it through the hole. It's never been as easy, I just haven't taken the time to do it. This one is graraged kepted and not ridded in harsh conditions.

just clean it dust is the problem, it has nothing to do with rocking or moving the atv, i know all the moves to get it in, also wot and complete letoff will let u do it too, but if you have the turn the center circle before it will pop out thats definitely the problem
