When was the last time anyone saw a stock 250R? Its like spotting Bigfoot nowadays! But in all seriousness like many have said, the R is "mild" when stock. But forget having it bored...all you need is a good pipe/silencer, no airbox lid, a Rad valve, and a jet kit and you better hold on! I have my engine fully built (for MX/XC purposes, not dragging) and I gotta tell you that if you can hang with me your alright in my book....4-stroke 2-stroke rivalry aside.

All i can say is I have never seen a stock 250r. But every 250r I have ridden or seen will trash the 450r /yfz 400ex , 660 raptor
Wherever I ride the 250r's are fast. my god they have a six speed transmission at least 80 hp every type of performance part that could be made in the last 20 years. Clutches, sproket,s cranks, pistons, heads ,valves carbs, transmission. hell everything on the 250r can be replaced with something designed for full race right out of a mag.

I saw the most stock 250R I've seen in years last weekend. It had all original parts except for new tires and wheels, sprockets and chain, case saver and an FMF Rev pipe and silencer. Everything else was stock but the frame had been repainted or powdercoated as had most of the other parts. 87 I think it was. It had been in storage for a long time.
A basically stock 250R should beat all of the stock 400's and run with stock raptors/preds/bombs if not beat them. Stock 450's have somewhat of an edge. Of course I'm just talking about sand and hill climbs, I dont do the asphalt thing.

Mine was completely stock when I got it...but whats the fun in that! People put so much money into their quads these days that you either run with the big dogs or get left behind, there is no in between. These things were meant to be ridden and ridden hard. That's why it kinda annoys me when you see guys nowadays buying an R and keeping it in the garage with a cover over it like its a showcar. Get out and ride the damn thing!
