You heard they were too lean from the factory?
They are leaned out to meet emission standards but are not "too lean".

My friend got one of the endcap replacements off Ebay for his 450.Now,it was bigger than the stock one but not much. His jetting went from stock(118 I think) to 180.Thats a huge jump for just changing the cap.I think they maybe a little too much on the lean side stock.

I also got the 2" end cap from ebay and I also cut open the airbox lid. I went to a 180 main, 50 pilot and dropped the clip to the bottom of the needle. I interpret "too lean" as being so lean that it will damage the engine. Therefore I don't think the 450r is too lean. JMO

You may be right that not so lean as to cause damage, but 60+ jet sizes for a bigger cap and no lid?

What is the stock pilot size? I've got the HRC kit in mine and I'm thinking it would like a larger pilot.

Thanks,

Daren

Keep in mind that when you add a new end cap, pipe, or remove the air box lid you have to adjust the fuel intake (bigger jets) to compensate for all the air the engine will now be able to breath. Its not that the R is lean its jetted for the amount of air its breathing.

Stock pilot is a 45. With the HRC kit Rossier exhaust and K&N (HRC kit comes with a airbox lid that is no more than a splash guard) I have a 185 jet and 50 pilot. That is what Rossier has dyno tuned there bikes with so I am sure it is close enough for me. I e-mailed them about jets so I would not have to go through the guess work. They already did all of the tunning with their pipe on the Dyno so I am sure they squeezed all of the power out of it they can. Less guess work for me that way.
