Well you may be in pretty deep with trying to take it riding tomorrow. Do a search on this site about plug chopps. And ya gotta know how to read your spark plug. the color you want is paper bag brown. If the plug is black skinny up the main jet.
If its white fatten up the main jet.
The hotter it is outside the skinnier your main jet.
Colder =fatter
10 deg. will change things, thats why you do a plug chop defore the days ride. To make sure its tuned right.
DeRonne Hardware is an Amsoil dealer. On 9 mile west of 94 on the north side. Same building as morley candy.
Yes take the tank off and rinse it with fuel. Get it clean! You dont want to send any crud through that new carb.
That new carb prolly came with a 175 main jet, its located under the drain plug on the bottom of the carb. Its the 1/4" brass thingy . The jet is stamped with a #.

the pamplet that comes with it states it has a 55 pilot and a 165 main. Is that a good starting point?I dont plan on riding it tomorrow I just want to get it started and it stay running. Would a Dial A Jet prevent from changing out these jets so much and keep it running optimal?

Im sorry, this doesn't really add any content to your discussion but I just read this whole thread and I can't believe how much you guys have to mess with jetting up there in Michigan. Maybe Im spoiled with Florida weather at sea level, but the only time jetting becomes an issue down here is when I add a performance mod. I give you guys serious props!

I didnt get a chance to install it yesterday because I was at the tiger game but I will install the carb today. On my way home I will pick up a 175 Main and Amsoil oil. I wont be riding in the winter with that quad so is that the biggest jet I should get? You said 3 up and 3 down? do they go by increments of 5? so I should get all 150, 155, 160, 170, 175, 180?

Yeah 1Bad, last week it was in the 90's high humidity. Today low 70's almost no humidity. If you dont like the weather in Mi. wait a minute.
Hoopie, when you go for jets they will probibly put the whole box of jets in front of you and let you pick. Use 175 as a starting point in your carb. 3up 3 down. I think I have everything from 150-185. Generally they go in increments of 5, but there is some between #'s like 172, you'll see.
I am a tuning freak. I want my machines running to the fullest of there potential, thats why I take the time to do it right.
It may take some time for you to get the hang of jetting, and tuning. Stick with it, once you get it, ya got it! It's not that dificult.

It will fit into the stock boot. I find it easier to push it into the boot from the air filter first, that will align the carb to the reed boot. You can use some silicone spray to lube it up before you stick it in. If that doesnt work you may have to heat it up to soften the rubber, though I've never had to. Once you get that new carb in and run the bike a few times the carb boot will stay open to the 36mm and it will be easier to remove and install.
Also, use an automotive radiator hose clamp on the reed side of the carb. Stock clamp wont seal the boot 360 around the carb.

thanks. I will give that a try tomorrow. I put the 175 main in it also to begin with. I also got the Amsoil dominator oil. Is it one ounce per gallon? It doesnt say on the bottle. The original carb only had a 150 main. Thats a big difference

If you are mixing 5 gallons of gas its 12.5oz oil to 5 gallons of gas. Or 2.5oz per gallon.
I would'nt be too concerned what was in your old carb, other than pulling the jets to add to your collection.
Rather see you start off too rich than lean. Too lean = kaboom!
