250r WTF

ok i got the motor all back together and now the carb is giving me problems. i try and kick it over and gas just leaks out of the bottom of the carb, so im thinking the float is stuck. could the needle jet be bad?? what do you guys think.

the NEEDLE JET is not bad, the NEEDLE AND SEAT are leaking. check the float- use your thumbnail and poke around the edges of the float, if some gas comes out like the float is a sponge, then the float is bad. If the floats ok and you have the FLOAT LEVEL set right, then the needle and seat that the float opens and closes is bad. After opening and closing many times the seat wears a groove into the needle and it starts to leak. check the end of the needle- it should be smooth with no groove where it contacts the seat. Most stock needles are all metal, but some aftermarket ones are rubber-tipped, these are better and will still outlast all-metal needles. If you have to replace it, get a new needle and seat kit with a Viton-tipped needle. (Viton is a kind of rubber i guess)
also make sure you put all these parts together right. If it's the needle leaking, then it should have been leaking before you took it apart. Things dont just magically wear out when you have them disassembled on the bench.
good luck
