Default '88 TRX 250R, possible help?

Well, I never thought I'd say this but I might possibly buy a Honda.

It's advertised in a local paper, 1988. 330R big bore kit, Roll Design Arms, Aftermarket suspension, Aftermarket axel, EX plastic, plus other goodies. It is for $4500 Canadian, and the price is not a for sure firm. I am considering this because it is one of the only considerable decent priced R's in Alberta. There are a couple others wanting $6500 for the same mods, even $5500. Is it a decent deal? Sure it's no $2000 american like some of you lucky SOBs get down there.

Finding the old 2 strokes are rare here, or well atleast decently maintained ones. A friend bought an 86 250R for 3k and it is a basket case, it runs but he's already put over 1500 just trying to get it to run properly.

...so what is it guys, $4500 (possibly 4k) a good deal for a relatively modded R?

Not sure on the exchange rate but sounds good to me. If a similar bike is selling for $6500 get it while you can. Keep us posted.
