Default 250r problems....

Prob 1 -- I have some jetting issues, currently i have a 160 main jet in and when i give it gas at times the power (usually around 1/2 to 3/4 throttle) isnt there plus the plug is a little black i was thinking to go down a size on the main jet and play with that air/ fuel screw what else should i do?

Prob 2 -- My clutch definately needs an adjustment it has a (hinson clutch basket) on level ground it catchs pretty well and shifts well when going, however when there is a slight to moderate incline it will not catch at all i move 2 feet and stall how can i fix this problem

The air screw will jack with the idle more than anything.Depending on your bore and airbox setup you may nee a smaller main jet. What carb you using? You might try raising the clip on the needle up one slot to help lean it thru the mid range.

Are you running with the airbox lid on?

Need more info on how your bike is set up, but try without the lid.

I know the stock setting is on the 4th groove, not sure what changing it accomplishes. Just becareful not to lose that damn clip its so small! I lost it while at the track one day and it ruined my whole day.

That clip determines how fast the cable pulls the needle out of its seat.Raising it leans out the carb by lowering the needle position and slowing down the fuel flow.Lowering the clip raises the needle and allows the fuel into the venturi faster, riching the mixture. It is for fine tuning. For example, you do a plug chop at wide open and its good, bike idles fine but your kinda stuttering in between, moving the clip will help get rid of the stutter.Yours sounds like a rich in the middle problem so Id raise it one position and see.The main jet you have is pretty good for a bike with a little bigger than stock bore and a pipe and no lid on the box.Do the plug chop at wide open in 4th or 5th gear on the pipe, while the throttle is open hit the kill switch and pull in the clutch.Take out the plug and "read" it.Your looking for a brown paper sack color or maybe a shade or two more to the darker brown side.Deep choclaty color means your main is too rich and lighter means your lean.

BTW,sounds like you need to let the clutch cable out a little. You can adjust it on the motor at the anchor or if your lever has an adjustment do it ther.Let it out until the little actuator the cable hooks to quits moving. It should go towards the rear as you let it out.
