Default honda help!!!

my dad has only three restrictions on the atv i get

1.has to plow snow

2.has atleast 400cc(but i have to be able to handle it)

3.under $6.2k

i am 15yrs old wiegh 125 and am 5'7" tall
i will ride in the dunes, but mostly with a friend who has a rincon and 300ex. i want to be able to ride through some mud and water. we will do a little trail riding. my dad might pull some cars with it but nothing to big.

i thought about a 400 rancher. i want it to be automatic or electric shift.

Default honda help!!!

A Rancher 400 would be a good choice or maybe a Foreman.

Default honda help!!!

AT LEAST 400cc I like the sound of that. If you are willing to purchase a used one, for that price you can really get a very good utility. If you are limited to Hondas, the Rubicon or Foremans may be a good choice. For plowing, I wouldn't suggest the Rincon so much because of the lack of low range, unless the 1st ESP gear is low enough. I do not know the answer to that though. However, Suzuki Vinsons and Eigers, Yamaha Kodiaks and Grizzlies, Kawasaki Prairie 650/700s are all very great machines to think about. I won't suggest Bombardier, Arctic Cat or Polaris just because I'm not a fan of them or their reliability, but that's just my opinion. Hondas will undoubtedly last the longest and be the most trouble-free, that's for sure. The Kawasaki's come with some regular belt maintenance that could be a problem if you don't like to turn a wrench, but the performance of the V-twins is awesome. The Yamahas and Suzukis have similar belt-drive CVTs that don't require near the maintenance of the Kawasaki, but still not on par with Hondas which don't even use belts. If you need any more assistance at all, let us know. You'll find this forum to be the most helpful place you'll ever go as far as advice on ATVs.

Default honda help!!!

the rubicon is a great workhorse and will plow anything you throw at it and will hang with all the quads big or small.
it might not pop wheelys as easy or fishtail like the bigger ones but it will go anywhere the other quads go and probly ferther depending on how agressive you are.
and it will be alot less mantinence then any belt quad.
since i got my rubicon 13 months ago all i have done is change the oil and filter and i have
3200 kilometers (2000 miles) on it.
and i have only put 200 klicks on it since january when i got my 700 kawi.
and since i got the kawi i have checked my belt and clutches twice now along with changeing the oil.
its like someone said in another post unless your good with a wrench you might want to stay with the honda.
the kawi had 500 miles on it when i got it in jan and i now have1800 miles on it.
i ride it every chance i get so i put alot of miles on it.
the kawi is rubicon fun times two.
but the rubicon will cost alot less in repares un upkeep.
and will probly outlast the kawi.
another thing you can always buy a manual shift atv and then you can get just about any name brand out there.
arctic cat makes a 500cc manual.
i had a 03 and it polwed the hell out of my driveway (and its over 200ft long)
and it was fun to ride also but it wasnt very good going up steep hills.
the front end tended to pop up alot keeping you on your toes.
anyways there other choices out there but i think the honda will be the best choice in the long run.
and when you decide to upgrade later you will get a good price for your honda when you sell it.
good luck with whatever you buy.
