Who is going to buy the 250ex this is not to be sarcastic

i ask this not to be sarcastic but I want a second atv one smaller than mine easier for company and the GF ot ride. I don't want another utlilty machine, hence, Bayou, Recon , mag 325 that type, shaft drive is a must, hate chains owned chain drives and while no huge problems, just more than I want. even though the 250EX has to be shifted it is under 4 grand which is also another one of the things I want. How can you beat it? 3899, shaft drive good looks. reverse electric start and all that. nothing in the price range range comes close. I want one.

Greetings,
Ditto. Had it been around when I bought the Recon I would have bought the 250ex. Its just a sportier version with all the best stuff left in. I think it makes a lot of sense when you already have a utility quad or if you just want a smaller, cheaper one that's kinda cool. I suspect you could compare it to the Trail Blazer or Trail Boss, but the shaft drive and four-stroke engine sort of put it in a market niche all its own.

I have a 1992 250X for a lot of the reasons stated here in this post. Of course there are some significant differences between the 250X & the 250EX(chain drive/kick start/man clutch), but they are almost identical weight & power should be close. My point is, don't sell the 250EX short in the performance arena, yet, as in the woods trails, the 250X does a great job of keeping up with the big boys & with the right rider can embarrass some of them. I think the 250EX will be a hit for Honda!

I put money down on one and will get the first one my dealer gets in. It is the perfect bike for my daughter (and lots of other people). She was riding an LT-80, but had WAY outgrown it. So, she and my girlfriend have been trading off riding a Recon. She likes the Recon, but it's kind of clunkey with the racks and all.
Lets face it, we are in this forum because we are enthusiasts! Most riders AREN'T enthusiasts and NEVER WILL BE. They just want to have maximum fun with the least hassle. Autoclutch, decent suspension, decent power (but not so much as to get in over your head), nice styling, good price, etc. A good bike for people who like to ride, but don't ride enough to get really good at it. I showed my daughter a picture, and she thinks it's the greatest thing she's ever seen. I'm just afraid my girlfriend will want on too.

Honda had an entry level sport quad, the 200SX/200II. This medium size quad was perfect for those not ready for full bore sport machines ready to lift the front end at a mere hint of throttle.
The new 250 sounds like a smart move. A sport ride of that size and setup is great if you are more interested in what's on the trail than getting to the end fast.
Our first four wheeler was a trashed '86 200SX. After the engine, brakes, rear axle, steering stem, starter, electrical, and auto-clutch were "fixed" it was-is a fun ride, and can lend it to "newbie" friends without to much worry. When I ride with more exotic machines it catches up pretty fast.
Currently Operable fun rides:
97 300EX
92 KX 80
86 200SX
77 PUCH Moped
71 SL 70
Generic Minibike
Craftsman ATV (mower conversion)
'50 Chevy Deluxe
'50 Ferguson TO20
