My buddys 400 just dies out when your riding it. I was in 4th gear and it just died then wouldnt start for anything i let it sit for about a minute and it fired right up. It has done it a few times and he just got it yesterday. What could be wrong?

that happened to me... The dealership forgot to put the spring back on the choke leaver so it just vibrates on the on position... im gonna try and get a spring today for it.. but it just stalls in mid riding. Could be getting too much gas maybe?

does it quit just like you turned the key off? If that's the case, it could be a bad coil. The wire windings in the coil get hot and open up, which basically cuts the spark off because there is no circuit. When the engine quits, of course the coil is not working at all so it cools down and the windings connect again and the thing will start right up.
Also, it could be the fuel tank vent. We had an old 125 three-wheeler do that to us cuz the dumb kid that was riding it turned the gas cap switch-vent-thing to "off", which keeps the fuel cap from venting as the fuel gets pulled down into the carb, which creates a vaccuum in the tank and eventually makes the fuel stop flowing and it quits. when the machine sits, the pressure slowly equalizes back through the carb and you can start it and ride it again. Now i know you dont have the shut-off cap thing, but you have a vent tube that could be blocked and doing the same thing... but the machine will start bucking and hesitating BAD before it will stop running, so if it runs fine before it quits then this is most likely not the problem, but i would check that tube just to be sure. just blow throught it, should have no restriction at all.
