400ex vs competition

The Z400 variants do just about everying as good, or better than the 400ex. I would say one of the only thing I think honda has the advantage on is Reliability, however I have not seen/heard of a lot of Z400 issues either. It's just that the Honda engine is generally hard to kill.
If I had to choose between the two, I would pick the Z400.
I would not even consider the Raptor 350 at all out of the 3 of them.
Just my opinion.

I think a 400ex is a good beginner quad... 400ex is my first quad and i love it. Its reilable, its fast, and it handles well. You can go around turns really well. I know the z400 is faster.. but the 400ex is a nice quad. I like the headlights better also on the old 400ex's. Like the 2000 and the 2001. Just my opinion

Both my Z and EX have been fine, trouble free machines. Both have excellent handling, and high quality. Of the two, the Z is the best all-around machine. I pick the EX only for real tight trails and even some semi-technical work, otherwise it is my daughters ride. The Z has to be ridden revved out, where the EX will lug down and can be ridden slow.

the z/kfx r basically better than the 400 ex.
the z/kfx are faster and are water cooled. They also weigh less.
the 400ex has the honda sticker.. which is the only positive for a biast buyer.
I have heard tho that if u put cams in a 400ex and then cams in a 400 z/kfx, that the EX would blow them away. I am not entirely sure about this though.. because the guy i asked was a mechanic and owned everything honda.
If ur looking for power and better overall performance, get a KFX/Z. U want a sticker, get the Honda.
From what I hear, the KFX/Z in 03 did have frame cracking problems. I have a 03 KFX, and I have had no problems with anything on it.
Stay away from the Rappy 350.. its slow as hell and is a waste of money. U can get a brand new 400 z/kfx for the price of a new rappy 350.
-EDIT- dont forget.. u asked this in a Honda forum.. so u might get Honda biast opinions.
