have you taken in to consideration that the tires your running ,if theyre stock ,arent even close to being the same tire.put that same tire on the 250.our opinions are obviously not going to meet an agreement in stock tire form the 250 will handle better sliding around.so ill just say that i love my 450. ive ridden 250s and i love them to,but i own a 450.

i got both and can actually make this comparison. my 250r is only modded with a pipe, air filter, rad valve. it rips pretty good. Ive got elkas for it but havent put them on yet. to keep this simple, id just say that the 450 will go before the 250r. the 250r handles better to me than the 450r - i dont care what anyone says- the 250r has better balance, is lighter, has a better matched transmission with 6 gears, has lower center of gravity and a overall greater sense of control. now, the 450 gets it on being newer and a little more trail friendly (i have even done some technical stuff with it depite the high first gear) and it has more advanced technology like the engine, suspension, etc. the 450 is faster.

the 450 is really impressive though and accelerates very well. i dont regret buying it- its the first 4 stroke ive bought in well over a decade. its reliable and fast and does handle well but not quite as good as the 250 (to me)..but if you want a better 450, get the YFZ or wait for the new suzuki z450.
IMO, honda needs to fix a few things with theirs...

i own an 88 250r and i just bought a 450r over the winter...i was a 2 stroke guy till death and the main reason for buying the 450 was reliability of a new machine, however after getting used to the different type of power of a 4 stroke i love it...its a completely different ride then a 250r motor wise but you will learn to love it and the handling and suspension aspect is as good if not better then the 250r.....but keep the "R" still the best quad ever made

I know this sounds stupid and there probably are many threads on this but Honda should take the frame of the 250 and work off of that to make a 450 motor fit, since 06 is the last year two stroke will be produced. Hondas never been the most ahead of the game or barely on top of it but what they make is solid. Ya know, its not because Honda has the fastest or the most powerful or best handling that I like them its because what ever they build you can rely on and will never (well almost) let you down. Its not even like there prices are the highest, they match what you pay for. A lot of other companies don’t.

Ya it kind of stinks that they arent producing 2-strokes ne more but that just means that the ones that r still alive will be worth even more. N yes i agree honda may not be the best but its reliable n u can trust it. I wish they would go back to the square frame n build a motor to fit it cause the square frame was sturdy n strong n not to heavy.
