I know it's been talked about before. I'm having problems with the shifter on my sons 02 Recon ES. It keeps locking up and flashing 8 times. We have cleaned the Angle sensor conection and lubed it up, have oiled the shifter part on the engine. It keeps getting hung up, can work it free with the manual shifter and pushing the shift buttons, but it keeps doing it just in the yard. Any sugestions ? I have a 03 Rancher and have never had this problem ( knock on wood ) Thanks

 

A friend of mine has an 04 recon and had the same problem. He took it to our dealer and they said there was a recall on his sensor I don't know what all years but might be worth a call.

 

loosen the clutch a half turn instead of a quarter and see if it helps.

 

This is what I did.........I loosened ( increased )the clutch, it just made it act up quicker. I tightened (decreased) it and it did not lock up but it slipped. I cleaned the sensor connection (was not dirty) and that did not help. I guess I will replace the sensor for the 2nd time in almost a year. What a piece of crap. Honda tells me to bring it in and they will take a look at it, last time it cost me $200.00 for them to replace the sensor

 

back it up until it doesn't slip but still doesn'tlock up.

 

Is that a decrease or increase ? I think I hit everything inbetween..
