MY RUBICON BEAT A 2000 SP 500 IN A DRAG RACE
#18
My 2000SP500 will hang right with a Rubicon on flat ground, but that is not why I bought it. I am also willing to step up to the plate if any Rubi owner would like a competition. (Doc) Lets try a drag race over rough terrain, or a mud competition, or a jump competition, or a barrel race to see which one corners and accelerates better.... any takers??? Texmudder will be at the Halloween ride. His bike is set up with the same size and type of tires as mine. Maybe that will be a good time to do some real comparisons. If Straight line acceleration was the most important quality in an Utility ATV, I would still have my Grizzly.
BTW, Doc, you are only a hour and a half away from FWP. Why don't you join us?

Kinda a silly comparison, don't ya think? A funny car will smoke a truck puller in a drag race, but a truck puller would then smoke the funny car when pulling a sled. Personnally, I think the choice od drive modes (D2 versus D1) had a lot of impact on that drag race between the Rubicon and the SP). D1 is performance, while D2 is torque (stays in gear longer). Drag racing a Rubicon in D2 mode would hurt the Rubicon's performance. As for my personal opinion, I think it's significant that the Rubicon can even stay close to a SP500 (handling and performance), regardless of which one wins. The SP500 is a awesome machine, just one that has a slightly different design focus than the Rubicon.

A troll is somebody who goes looking for trouble on the internet and likes to stir people up and get them mad. A major cause of flaming in forums and chat rooms.
I'm glad your Rubicom redeamed itself in a drag race. Now race the Sportsman again tell the owner to take the parking brake off this time. (this is an example of trolling for a response)
When the Rubicon rides like a Polaris I will buy one. So until Honda changes that 1971 suspension and upgrades to a more modern 2001 I will have to keep my new H.O.
