Unless 1st gear in ESP is as low as other Honda machines, mud, snow and other high-torque applications would be a weakness I would foresee on the Rincon. It has no low range. The top speed is in the mid 60's and the performance is kind of lazy compared to the competition, although good by Honda utility standards. It is thought to have one of, if not the best suspensions in the sport-utility segment. ATV Rider magazine raves about how smooth, but controllable and stable the ride is on their review. As far as reliability, you're right: it's a Honda. It may not outperform the other big-bores (for now anyway), but it will likely outlast them.

Rincon is very predictable on the trail. While not fast in stock condition, many owners install free flowing air cleaners and a two inch exhaust tip, and of course to avoid burning valves, jet it richer. Then no complaints re: power. Google and look at rincon owners for details. But this site has been down for a couple of days. In ESP 1 the Rincon will pull really well. Some snow plow with them. The engine has so much torque at low speeds, plus the torque converter kicks in so now speed power is not something that the owners are complaining about. Many move the transmission cooler a few cm further away from the rad to get better cooling.

Well I can vouche for the utility part of the Rincon as I use mine for pulling a trailer a lot. It does everything I've needed it to do so far as far as pulling and towing, it just takes time to get used to the torque converter. Last winter I tested it out in deep snow while cutting firewood, with 2 riders on in 1st ESP spinning all 4 tires trying to get through the deep part of the snow to make a track so we could save a lot of time going to the truck instead of taking a long way through the woods. It had plenty of power for that, and just playing around going through snow it will spin all 4 tires in 2nd gear so I think it has plenty of low end for most jobs. rooster

My riding buddy has one, and I really like it, as does he.

I think my Foreman does better on really rocky technical decents, but he disagrees. I must admit he does have a ground clearance advantage...

Can they be abused? Depends on what you mean by abused.

Since it shares engine oil with a torque converter type auto transmission, if I owned one, I'd change the oil on time every time, with the good stuff....

Also, after a full day riding in the rough, then sleeping on a thin RV bed, I'm usually the one who is feeling beat when my friend is ready to go, even though he's more than 10 years older...
