2002 400ex for under $2000 with mods
#1
I am new to sport quads so this will be my first. So I dont plan on going "new". The guy that has it is around 23 and im sure the quad was used hard. The handle bars are not stright. If you arnt looking for it you will not see it. The plastics are pretty rough and are yellow with a red seat. That would have to be replaced. Mods are nerf bars , pipe (i forgot name) jetted, k&n, maxxis tires razo or something like that and aftermarket rims.
It runs good. Starts right up. I rode it only in his yard but that was limited. But i would not know what to look for anyways.
What do you guys think. This would be something my girl could ride for trailrideing. but thats just a reason so I can buy it.
Thanks
Casey

Well to begin with, the 400EX is a bullet proof machine, but that quad sounds beat up. If it's not that ugly as it sounds, for $2K I would take it, since it's not to old. Sure your girlfriend could ride it, it's rider friendly and easy to ride.

I live in Stevens Point. Where you at?
The only reason I would say its ugly is cuz the plastics are not right. Yellow and red. If i buy I will be getting new or newer ones.
With it being jetted. (I know nothing about what is all done. He just said it was. I will get more info on it.) Does it make it horrable on gas. I more worried about trailrideing. Can anybody tell me about how many miles will a stock 400ex get on a tank?
Thanks for the replys.
That was pretty fast.

id take it..doesnt sound too bad.you can always get new plastics for cheap on ebay or something...400ex's are bulletproof and even if its been beaten to **** as long as the motor runs strong like you said.. and the clutch doesnt slip and you can run throw all the gears fine...id say its a good buy...my friend bought a 2002 400ex for 1700...id try to talk him down a little and see what he sayz...yea my friends 400ex was beaten to hell too... it was felt outside and was just not taken care the right way...the kid rode it hard and didnt care at all about it...but now he put a few hundred dollars into it and cleaned it up and it run great now...but just make sure it doesnt leak oil..the clutch works good..tranny is pretty smooth and you can run throw the gears...also see if it smoke like when its starts cold...just make sure its not alot of smoke...cuz that a bad sign...the motor can handle pretty much anything so dont have to worry about that too much...good luck..wish i lives over there id check it out cuz im looking for an ex...
