Default 310 kit for 250R

I have been looking for a 310 kit for my 86 250R for sometime now. I don't know whether or not to go with the ESR, or CT kit? Both kits are fairly expensive but i have heard the gains you get from either of these kits are well worth it. Which kit would be better? Also do you know where i might be able to find a used kit? There is one on ebay right now and it is at $153, it is used and probably needs honing and a new piston. How much would you bid on this kit? It has a spacer for between the jug and the motor, i know there is a difference between the strokes on the 86-87s and the 88-89s which years do you have to use the spacer with? Sorry for all the questions i am just really interested in purchasing this kit for my R, and i figured some of you could help. Thanks

Might as well bite the bullit and buy a complete, brand new kit.

I am going to see what that one on ebay goes for first. The guy said it was scratched up but nothing unrepairable and it needed a new piston. If i could get it and fix it cheaper than a brand new one i would do that..

Good luck bidding. How's that R run? Long live 2-strokes.

It runs pretty good. I need to mess with the jetting on it, and i believe it would run better. There is a banshee where i race at regularly that has bout $3,000 in his motor and i can stay with him everywhere except in the straights and he pulls me bout 1 or 2 quads, but nothing major. Thats why i am looking for a 310 kit.

The kit on ebay is at $316. What do you all think bid or let it go? Needs honing and a new piston.

Just buy the complete kit from either ct or esr.. You don't want someone else's headache & it might cost you more in the long run. I run a ct310 ported for mx, bought the complete package it runs great out of the box. Jetting was even correct. Power increase is huge compared to stock or piped.

IMHO ESR is the place to get your Honda stuff... More power for the $$ and better customer service too.
I'd go with the 350cc or 370cc build... HP is addictive, and once you realize how much better the 310 runs, you'll be thinking More More More
