Grinding out header pipe on 400ex
ive herd that grinding and sanding out the grove on the inside of the header pipe helps, and gives it some more power but wow much more power do u really get out of that? soes it make it so you have to rejet it? also does it take some power off the low end? And is it worth it to mod. the air box and take out the snorkel and box top and replace it with a K&N filter top? and im going to put a pipe on it just a slip on what kind to get for som mmore mid range? If anyone has some advise on witch mods are worth it on this bike please help me out

hello, i have heard the same about grinding out the headpipe, some people said it helped some didn't, right now i have the oppertunity to do mine casue it is taken off along with everything else on my bike since the cylinder jug is getting bored, i am planning on waiting til i have the money and just buy the full system, because when i look at my stock headpipe and look how much grindin i would have to do it doesn't look like its worth all the effort and time. And you were askin about what slip on to buy for your bike, I would 100% recomendt the White Brothers E-Series pipe, thats what i have on mine right now and it is awesome, my firend had the Pro Circut T-4 and he liked my so much better he just bought his own, You can buy the white brothers pipe at Rock Mountain ATV for about $215 i believe. well i hope this helps you out. Have a good one

hey no problem, i see you have an 04 400ex, i have the same one (not like any year is different tho) so if you have any more questions just ask, i will also tell ya that if you do get an exhaust, a K&N air filter is a nice compliment to add to it, and dont forget to re-jet your bike after installing some aftermarket mods!
