LOL!! probly be reall close accel the cr would beat it then the ex would probly catch up through the gears

I would think the 400ex would take it all the way through. I have beat my buddies yz 80 badly with my warrior and could keep up with it til 4th gear on my friends arctic cat 400 4x2 ute. Dunno how much faster the 85s are but I would think a 400ex should destroy them. People give little dirtbikes to much credit. Just because they fly though the gears doesnt mean there going anywhere. Thats like saying if I geared down my quad to only do 30 it would beat everything out there to 30.

 

i agree 100% people think the dirtbikes are sooo great. My buddy has a perfect running condition CR85. I SMOKE him through all the gears. we do roll ons from my second gear. its not even close!! by the time im topped out i can bearly see him! i ride his bike alot, and its quick, but it FEELS so much faster then it really is. the thing tops out in 15sec but its only doing about 50mph. plus it has the most NARROW powerband.... its ALL the way at the top of the rpm range.. FUN as hell to ride..

 

well, after reading this thread I Must admit that this question came up a year ago during a family get-together. My friend grabbed his Z400, I grabbed a 400EX then we raced my neghbors kid who owns a 1989 CR80R that I sold to his dad a few years ago. It is my old bike! This CR80R has reeds, pipe and a shaved head.
We lined up on the local gravel road 3 wide. Traction caused the CR to take a instant 3rd place until he got on the pipe then he blasted past both of us! When I reached redline on the 400EX I was only slowly gaining on the CR.
We lined up on pavement, Again the CR had trouble because he almost looped out! He blasted threw the gears like a F1 car and easily won!

Note: If we were in the dunes, the cr would be a joke

 

the cr85 against a 400ex would be close, but the raptor would pull away all the time, from the start all the way to the finish.
