very expensive project

alright, so i found that the problem with my 450r is that somehow, the oil leaked out, and i have heard it all so please dont talk about the oil leaking out being my fault, i realize it is probably my fault, so i dont need to hear any more about it. but what are the problems caused by this, and how much are these repairs in just parts? is it just the cylinder? what parts were likely damaged?

If all the oil leaked out and you ran it for more than a few seconds, heres a list of parts you should buy:
cylinder
piston
piston rings
cam(s)
cam bearings
crank
crank bearings
connecting rod bearings
oil pump
cam chain
basically any moving part in the engine, tear it apart and see what's bad. i'm sure the piston and cylinder need to be reworked,
but maybe the crank bearings just need to be polished up, i dont know. parts are expensive for these, especially the cylinder, it's Nickasil coated. good luck.

I ran a brand new 5 hp (25-40 hp modified)Briggs and Stratton engine wide open around the racetrack one day. It started getting hot so I brought it into the pits. We had never put any oil in it.
Turned out to be the hottest engine i ever had. I guess the no oil break in seated everything a little better. I tore it down and it just looked like it had been hot. It got up to 410 degrees before I pitted.
I would just oil it up and run it till it breaks. If you replace all the parts that COULD be damaged you may as well just blow this motor up and get another.

Oh the bike is locked up, cylinder must be welded to piston. i cant start it. i am gonna take it to a neighborhood mechanic, he is very well known, i just wanted a price estimate before i take it.

You might be able to get by with just a new piston, rings, and a bore job. These items will probably heat up first and would have caused the lock up. In looking at my Rancher parts book it looks like the crank and rod is one piece. Not sure about yours.

i am not sure, maybe bolt was not tight enough and vibrated loose. but honda said it was not their fault, so i must fix it. they didnt give me a list of parts to buy though and i work at a harley dealer, so i get discounts on parts unlimited stuff. thank god. i have to pay cost on parts from them. does anyone know where i can get an atv catalog online from parts unlimited? i want to get a price list of possible parts. i want to keep the stock bore, so i will end up buying the cylinder. what else though? and how much??
