Well,
as most of you guys know,I ride a 00 400cc Polaris Xplorer 4x4.I beleive it to be one the the most versatile 4x4 quads on todays market.

I found it neccesary to purchase another quad for my wife and daughter.Im NOT loyal to any brands, however,I am loyal to what I LIKE.After doing my home work,I selected the Honda Recon.I liked the shaft drive, ease of shifting gears was smooth,it only weighs 405lbs,so the wife or 14 yr old daughter can easily handle it.I found a good deal on a slightly used [one owner] 1998 model Recon. It has only had six tanks of fuel ran in it.I checked the air box,it was totally clean. There was NOTHING on the air filter either. The nubs on the tires were still present. The owner was selling it because it was'nt getting used.He bought it for his 11 yr old son,and his son wants a dirt bike because thats what his friends ride,so goes the story.I paid 2450 for it.I must say that im very happy with this purchase.

I have one problem though.I dont see anywhere for a hitch ball on the Recon,am I missing something like a bracket maybe?Thank You,
Bill

Wow did you get a bargain! I'm pretty sure there's a trailer hitch bracket that's available as an accessory. I don't plan on getting one for my recon, cause my Rancher came with the bracket. Just had to get a ball from the local trailer dealer.

Bill. The trailer hitch bracket is sold as an aftermarket accessory for the Recon. Any Honda dealer SHOULD have it in stock. My friend with the Recon put one on his.

I had purchased one of the hitch mounts in question for my Recon when I had it. I found it to be both functional and well used.

I gave hayrides to the kids at church in the fall using the same trailer I used to transport my Quad, and never worried about the hitch.

I think I had paid only about $28.00 for the mount and it attached in 5 minutes.

The recon is a good quad. I think you'll like it. Just to let you know, I've heard that the recon is a wheelie monster.

Greetings,

Cabela's and Northern carry hitch brackets for the Recon. I've heard from others in here that the dealer variety are much more expensive, like three times as much. You might check out the two websites first to compare.

The factory speedo is about $240. I'm sure it works great. I opted for the bicycle speedo, about $25 and a little bit of fabrication, it works good, too.
