250R with 295 kit
#1
Hey all..... I'm new to the forum and had a quick question. I am considering purchasing an 89 250R with a 295 kit in it. Any pros or cons with this kit? The quad looks to be in nice shape, with lots of aftermarket parts and upgrades, but I don't want to end up with something unreliable or hard to fix. I'm mostly gonna use the quad for recreational riding, not racing. I know it's probably more than I need, but I cut my teeth on 2 cycle three wheelers, notably an 85 Tri-Z with a fully ported/prepped motor. I figure if I could stay in one piece on that, I could handle this 250R. Any comments/advice would be appreciatec.

Is the jug aftermarket or stock with a larger sleeve? I have a stock jug on mine with a 295 sleeve (actually at about 301cc now). The only problem I have had is getting the head to seal. Stock jugged 295s are bad about this. If you do buy it I would suggest getting the cylinder and head o-ringed as this solves the head gasket problem. That being said I'm very happy with the performance of the little 295. Mine is on alcohol and is ported for drag racing and it is pretty quick for what it is.
