Honda TRX 250R Frame
#1
I have a 250R and the guy I bought if off said it was a 89 gusseted Lonestar frame, but it looks like a stock, maybe gusseted by Lonestar? Would lonestar mark a symbol if they did that, and how can you tell the difference between the 86 and 89 frames?

If it is a lonestar frame it will be round tubular steel. If it is not round tubular steel it is a stock frame thats possibly been reenforced or gussetted by lonestar. Also if it is a lonestar frame it will be stamped lonestar on the top of the shock supports.

No cant post any other pics. cameras broken. How do you tell by an 86 or 89 frame by the engine mounts or where else? It is a stock frame, but Iam not sure if it was gussetted by Lonestar or even gussetted at all.

The 86 frame will have solid metal front motor mounts whereas the newer years had metal flaps that were not quite as beefy. Also, unless it has been converted, the 86 frame does not have rear motor mounts connected directly to the frame. It has a plate with mounts that slips between the swingarm then connects to the motor. The 86-87 R swingarm was one inch longer than the 88-89, not shorter.
The 86 frame VIN #s are GC000013 to GC021064.
