400EX igntion
Ok, I have a 2001 400EX. I put new plastics on it. But, heres where the problem comes in. When disconnecting the various wireing harnesses that go to the headlights, the ignition switch and the nuetral switch, there are unique plugs for each. What happened is that NOW after all is hooked back up, the bike will start whther the key is turned on OR off. And the nuetral switch will show nuetral whether the key is on or off. Im thinking bad switch? Any ideas?

I'm thinking disconnect your battery when not riding until you get this thing figured out or you'll drain your battery. First make sure you have these plugged into the proper connector. If your not sure which is which, disconnect both of them and use a meter to find out which connector has voltage. This should be the one that goes to the ignition. If it's not how you had it switch them and give it a shot. If you had them correct before then disconnect the ignition switch and see if it still behaves the same way.
If both connectors are the same it sounds like you have them reversed. The reason the neutral light would be on is that it's carrying the load through it.

oh ok I just re-read. I thought you said they were the same plugs. Is it possible that you pinched some wires together with the plastic? Does the neutral switch only come on when its in neutral or when it's in any gear? If only when it's in neutral, will it run with key off when you shift out of neutral?
