There's just no way you should be paying that much. My 06 z400 was $5324 otd and the kfx's were either $100 or $200 cheaper. Keep looking, I'm sure you'll find it cheaper within reasonable driving distance. I'll have just over $6000 into mine After adding the following:
22" holeshot xcr's on rear
23" holeshot xcr's on front
PRM .250 swingarm skid
PRM .190 full skid
PRM .190 a-arm guards
PRM baja bumper
PRM Desert grab bar
Big Gun +1200 cdi with advanced ignition curve
Front sprocket down 1 tooth
Rear sprocket up one tooth
HMF slip-on
3 jets for carb (Recommended size plus one up and one down)
HMF quiet core
UNI high flow air filter
I'm not sure if I've got everything, I don't have my list right here.

I was as shocked as you were when the man showed me that price. I dont know how the hell he got that. I'll have to see what he added up. He wouldnt even go lower than that. I should be able, hopefully to find a better price. The price you got for yours is awesome. Why would the Kfx's be cheaper?

The kfx has a lower msrp, so with the same discount they'll be cheaper. I just paid for a lot of those things today. I paid $881.89 I already paid $52 for a used skid and bumper (Both prm) of ebay. I haven't totaled it yet so let's see:
Quad- $5324
ebay-$52, actually $72 with shipping
A&B- $881.89 (with shipping)
Total=$6277.89

That's over $700 cheaper than what they want to charge you with a whole list of mods. If you do buy at that price, ask them to use some lube so it won't hurt so much!!lol

LOL! Where did u buy urs troy city garage? I've heard a lot bout that place. Seen their site. nice prices but im in troy city garage is in NY. No way im going there for a quad. My dad asked for a llower price and he semed mad bout it. He leaned back and said WHY?! He gave a bunch of bs bout it being 05 now and the kfx being an 06. But whatever. I'd love to find it for the price u got it for. I would get 1 very soon. But 7 thousand?! Cant cough up that much. I'll buy ur quad! LOL! I'm gonna have 2 find a better dealer or look at used. My dad is also looking into a kfx 700. We'll probably get both for christmas if can find a good price..... i hope. Will we get a discount if we buy a kfx 400 and 700? I've also looked into a raptor 350 cuz they are cheaper. But i heard the kfx is a lotttt better so i better stick with the kfx 400. Ok see will look for ur reply tomorrow after school. I'm gonna wear my kawasaki racing shirt tomorrow!!!! Yeah!

Troy city has that 700 too. For $5599!!!!!!!! Do some internet searches you should be able to find some dealers out there with great prices. Stuff comes out quicker on the west coast so therefor should get cheaper quicker. It seems like they're trying to take advantage of you, assuming that you'll be so excited to get one you'll just buy. Or maybe that you won't do your research, you'll just impulse buy. I researched the different quads I was looking at for about 6 months before I went and bought this one. Probably the last 2 months was looking for the best price.

I bought a leftover '05 KFX400 for $5245 OTD.
I also considered the TRX400 before buying.
I had a few additional observations which led me to the KFX:

Seat height on the Kawazuki is about 2" taller than the Honda. Even though the specs on the web sites read the same, there is a difference. In fact, with me on the KFX at 220#, it sagged to the height of the Honda with nobody on it. I felt cramped on the TRX, but feel great on the KFX. I'm 6'3".

The battery on the Honda is exposed - inside the left rear fender. It'll be exposed to everything you ride through.

Go to the dealer and take the seat off the KFX and Honda. The Honda is a royal pain to get off and back on. The rear plastic comes off with the Honda seat. The Kawi seat comes off and goes back on with ease.

Also, the tool tube cap on the Honda needs a remedy. Although minor - it's a very loose fitting cap, and I can see the cap getting jostled off. It's an easy enough fix with some creativeness from your local Home Depot. Heck - even if it's a sheet metal screw or two.

I've only ridden my new Kawi once, and 1st gear is pretty low, and second is a bit taller, so there are times when 2nd is too tall, and 1st seems too low. I'm confident a -1T countershaft sprocket will make 2nd very usable in the trails.

Just my .02

Rick

It seems high at first. I've only got one tank through right now, but as it breaks in you do get more power. Speaking of break in DON'T PUSSYFOOT IT. Do a search on break in on this forum. Someone posted a link to this great site that tells you exactly how to break it in and it's not like the manufacturer suggests. I've commonly heard to ride it like you always will, but it's more in depth than that. It's very important to break in properly in the first 20 hours. You want to get right on it without hammering it, but get it to rev right up under load (driving it) then let the engine slow you down with throttle shut. Anyways if you search the forum and find the article it'll give you the details.
