Hi. i own a 250 ex and want to get a bigger quad and i reallly like the new trx400 for its price and cuz im a honda guy. these are the questions i have.

how fast does it go?

is it better than the z400?

is it too big for a 14 year old that is 5 feet 10?

is it good for every thing like woods, mx, sand? (i mostly need it for mx)

what other quad would you recomend for me that?

i wouldnt say the z400 is better but it has some good benefits but its depends wut u like.

I'd say mid 60's tops

The Z400 is newer, a little faster and from what I understand has better suspension

Its a great size for you

Its good for all those things. For steep dunes though in stock form you might want a little more power. Good thing is there are plenty of aftermarket things availible and its not hard to get more power out of a 400ex

I would look at the Z/KFX for sure


No matter what they are all great bikes. The 400ex is bullet proof. I have had the 440 kit on mine for 3 years and have not had to rebuild once. It just keeps running great trip after trip. Good luck

The 400ex is a great quad for all around I have a few mods on mine and it's faster than a z400
The quad will fit you just fine

Last weekend I raced a 03 Banshee with fatty pipes and was beating him until I hit 5th gear and he past me if that telles you how fast the 400ex is with a few mods

Z400 has better suspension, liquid cooled, and more power. The 400ex is a good machine though. I don't like the battery and regulator on the honda hanging out in the left rear wheel well. I researched for 6 months before I decided to buy the z. The ex will get through the tight spots in the trail a little easier. For some reason, Suzuki didn't make the z turn as tight. I compared it with my brother's ex, and his steers a lot sharper. It shows in the trail when your between the trees.
I went with the z for those reasons plus it was cheaper where I bought it at Troy City
I love my z and do feel it's an all around better machine. At first I was concerned about the frame and carb, but doing a little research I found that these problems were addressed.
I would recommend you go with the z (the kfx is the exact same and a little cheaper) but if you do go with the trx you won't be disappointed. They did finally put reverse on that too if your buying new. If your not buying new and go with the z, get an 05 so you have the updates.

i've seen troy city before and love there prices. i want to get the trx cuz i've had honda all my life and i really like honda. but i keep hearing the z is better and i dont want to go wrong cuz after i buy this quad im have to start to save up for a car so i cant just sell it and buy a new one again. so i also need a quad that will last me for years.
