I don't know for sure if it will work but you could try a tach for a ds650. Try Parker Yamaha on the web they are also a bombardier dealer and have the tach's for around $136.00 Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll look into that. Do you think I would have to install a battery to run the tach?

I bought a little "tiny tach" style for my recon. It has one wire that you put on the plug lead and a ground wire, that's all it needs. There are several around. Just look at your dealer accessory aisle, they should have one. It has a Honda sticker on it, but I don't recall who makes it and I am ready for bed and am not going to run out to the shop to see. It is a small digital unit that cost about 40 bucks. If you want a sweep style gauge, it will cost about 100 to 120 bucks. The tiny tachs don't have enough refresh to really use them like a sweep tach, but it helps set the idle, see your red line, etc.

The only reason that I bought it was because I had a gift certificate and didn't need anything else. It is cool because it has and hour meter built in too.

Do a google search for "tiny tach" and you will get the idea.

Thanks Barnette, I'll look into that. Hey Duramax did you need a 12 volt power source to run that tach or were you just able to hook it up to the lead on your plug wire and ground it? Thanks for the help.

It needs 12 volt power from the ignition switch. It also has internal lighting for night use that uses 12 volts. Your Honda may provide 12 volts when it is started. It has to run the lights.

Thanks Duramax, I probobly can find a way to just wire it up to my lighting system. Other than your battery and ground what other wiring was required for the install of your tach? Thanks again.

A mounting bracket. Doesn't come with a handlebar mount.

Other than hot and ground there should be another wire that actually feeds the tach the reading of RPM's like the plug wire or something like that.
