Default 400ex, what mods to do next?

i was wanting to wait to blow the motor before i upgrade the internals so i was thinking about doing up the suspension. I am not sure if extended a-arms are worth all the money they cost , or should i get some good shocks 1st. Any other upgrades you guys can think of that i do not have in my sig then throw out some ideas plz, any and all info is appreciated thanks in advance.

If you buy the shocks first, set up for the stock arms, they would have to be revalved to work with the wider a-arms, otherwise they would be way to soft. If you get the shocks first, set up for the wider a-arms, they would be really stiff with the stock arms. My sugjestion would be to start with the tires and wheels, then try and do the shocks and a-rms at the same time. If you can't swing it, then get the shocks first. But remember when you get the arms, rebuild your "new" shocks to work with the extra length.

yeah - I had works shocks that were fine - switched to +3" arms - and would bottom out on any jump - and it costs like $200-250 to have re-valved & heavy duty springs - so I ended up selling mine (e-bay) and getting new ones set up for my weight/arms - so at least figure out what arms you're gonna get before buying shocks

First of all what type of riding do you do ? If you want a cheap way to upgrade your front go on ebay and look for 450r front shocks they work great .. they are a huge upgrade from your stock shocks
