Yea the stock 205R will definitely outrun the 400ex, but if you really want to make it take life get a pipe for it. There are tons of them that can be had on ebay for cheap. It will really liven it up. Although it might be more of a conversation piece if you leave it stock. But nice find man...i'm jealous.

hey do you need skid plates when your riding sand

Depends on the sand, but usually its nice anyway. If there are rocks/stumps/branches/sticks etc in the sand area then i'd want at least the stock plastic plates if not aluminum. But they are also nice to have when cresting dunes so that your bike will slide over the hill and not plow into it forcing sand all through your frame, engine, and driveline (chain and sprockets). Same with the rear skid, wont drag the carrier through it.
