Which would win the 250R ATC or the 250R ATV on a 600 foot drag? both stock and both 1986 models. how about on a MX track?
Also which would be better for all around driving like blasting over fields, ditches, gravel roads, also a bit of mud, water and snow?
Are the engines on 1985, 1986 250R ATC the same as the 1986 quad? Also are the trannies the same?

I'm can't say for sure but I'd guess that the ATC might be a little quicker due to the fact that is has the same engine with a little less front end weight. I cut my riding "teeth" on a ported and piped 1985 Tri-Z 250. It was very fast and a real handfull to boot! Unless you have a lot of experience on a high powered ATC I would go for the quad. Definitely more stable and easier to ride on nearly any type of terrain. Good luck with whatever you decide.

 

A little off topic but i rode a tri-z this weekend and i raced a 350x that was running paddles up a dune and i had stock tires on and i beat him and we climbed to the exact point he just got there slower

and no i don`t have any experience with ATC`s. just a little bit with quads i have driven a polaris 300 4x4 once along time ago and a suzuki quadracer 500, that thing was awesome. how would the 250R compare to a quadracer 500?

 

lt 500 and trx250r share only two things in common.....they are both 2-stroke quads!!! i have ridden two lt500s one was ok the other was nasty mean. for wide open spaces straight hills and dunes i would ride the zilla. anything technical definately the trx,lt, but not the banshee. the kxf tecate is pretty mean also. had one of them too !![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

what type of top speed do you get on the 250R quad?

 

The ATC would take the TRX in a drag race, but handling around any course would easily go to the TRX. The only situation where the ATC would handle very well in comparison would be the dunes/sandy terrain, where trikes are awesome. The ATC will go about 75 mph, the TRX is low 70s.

The Tecate-4 is the meanest straight line 250 quad, one of them tested got 77 mph if memory serves, what a beast!
