fourtrax 350 question: dzzy or anybody
#1
I have an '86 350 and I am having trouble. It runs great but sometimes it will quit while its in gear. It starts right back up but quits when I put it in gear. Sometimes it will start and take right off, sometimes it takes several attemts, sometimes it won't go until I leave it for a while. Ideas anyone?

Honda just calls this quad the fourtrax 350, it was the first 4-wheel dr. they made.It runs perfect thats not the problem.I can be cruising along and it quits like I've hit the kill switch. It starts right back up but when I put it in 1st. or rev. it kills the motor. It is not a stall.
any ideas? thanks, art

I think I would pull the fuel picock out and see if it is getting cloged from rust. My 350x quad build had this simular problem and what I found was that the tank had some rust in it and the screen was starting to shrink. I cleaned the tank as well as I could and used my heat gun with a nylon tube brush to resize the screen, I pushed the brush into the screen and this forced the screen into place and the heat softened it and when it cooled wolla. I had to remove the screen from the tank and that was tricky. Well I hope you getter fixed. RUSS

Oh by the way is the idle maybe too low? I am not for sure but does that quad have a automatic clutch? If so it may need adjusted. My sons badger is setup this way and it is tempromental and it has to be just about perfect in order to take off without it dying.

Thanks for the ideas Russ, I just got back from 4 days in the u.p. of mi. Spent a lot of quality time on my quad. It performed great as long as I kept a steady pace, but when I was in tight spots where I had to manuver back and forth the old prob. would pop up. Could it be heat related? I know that my fan switch probably does'nt work so that could be a prob. I'll check all this stuff out and see if I come up with anything. thanks, art
