bought cobra exhaust system
notice that at night gets red hot about 3-4 inchs from exhaust port down the tube is this normal for them to get this hot it's an 89 modol this a new machine to me bought used seems to run great had to put new brakes and muffler other than that seems ok so as you see I am new and are going to relay on you guys and gals for help thanks joe hey all just wanted let you all know this was sitting still with the throttle opened up a little to burn off new exhaust paint and smell any way it"s at the dealership and asked them to check to be sure thanks joe

It sounds like your running lean you may need to re-jet.

I know the stock exhaust on my 400EX used to get a little red and would show up in the dark. When, I asked the dealer they said it was because the exhaust was stainless steel, and stainless steel holds the heat in more. I never experienced any engine problems. Now I have an aftermarket exhaust and it doesnt glow, but it has turned my chrome blue for about the first 3 inches of the pipe. I would advise that if you havent rejetted to do so. Any improvement to your engine intake or exhaust should require a jetting change.

Adam, I'm getting the y2k 400ex and mabe adding a Big Gun Exuast sys. What should i do with the jetting????

 

I have a few buddies who have cobra exhaust's and there pipes also glow red hot. My 400ex stock pipe glows as well as does my friend's. As far as I know this is normal for cobra exhaust's.
