Default The News on my 450r

well a while ago i posted telling everyone how my 05 450r blew up on me. what happened was the oil leaked out of the drain plug which vibrated loose. after the oil leaked out, my cam chain guide and tensioner melted, causing plastic to be spread throughout the top end. when i kicked it to start it, the cam chain fell off the sprocket the intake valves dropped, and the piston hit them. the cylinder is ok, but i am getting the athena 480 kit, stainless intake and exhaust valves, and the rest of the parts to fix it. i know reconranger wanted to know what happened and for all else, make sure you have oil in the tank before you ride!!

Bottom end should be OK because it has its own seperate oil supply (just like a 2-stroke).

This is interesting to me, because mine came from the factory with a leaking drain plug. When I first got it, there was a puddle of oil on the garage floor every morning. The bolt was tight, so I just let it go until my first oil change. After taking the plug out and putting it back in, it has been fine.

i am pretty sure the bottom end is ok, just kinda worried about the crank sprocket. if that is bad i need a whole new crank. but hopefully it is ok. my mechanic is looking at the bottom end today. he says it should be fine because the sprocket on the cam was fine. lets keep our fingers crossed though.
