Could have bought a new 2001 Big Bear that an older lady had won in a drawing for $4300. I decided not to. Instead I went out and bought a 2001 Foreman S from the dealer. Spent $1400 more for the Honda. Just wondering what you guys think.

1. Doesn't matter what we think; what do YOU think? There's a difference between being crazy and being stupid; if YOU'RE satisfied with your deal, you're neither.

2. It's TOO LATE now, anyway!

You have more power with the 450S than you would have on the big bear.

If you like the 450 then thats all that counts. We have 3 or 4 of them in our club & the owners really like them alot.

It is not a matter of being crazy. In my opinion both bikes have their pros and cons. In my opinion, if you bought the bike for mud, you bought the wrong bike. If you bought it for about anything else, you bought the right bike. If you keep the Honda in the mud and water, you will not have brakes for long, or you will be constantly cleaning the drums. I prefer the disk brakes on the Big Bear. Other than the difference in brake setup, I think both of these bikes will be fairly equal. I also think the Big bear has about as much power as the Honda.

Just my opinion, both are good bikes.

i never had a problem with the INCLOSED drum brake mechanism on my 98' 450s.

In fact if i remember correctly, i believe that dirtwheels teseted these two and the foreman did better in the mud.

After owning the 450s for 3 days I am more than satisfied with its performance. I bought Honda anyway because of reliability. I pulled up some bushes in the yard today and after my wife saw it in action she said it was worth every penny. I am glad I went with the Honda over the yamaha. Honda, Best On Earth!!

Enclosed??? Give it a few months in the water and mud. This is not a bash, it is a fact. I ride with many Honda owners. I have owned in excess of 20 Honda ATVs. All with the same results. I am guessing that you ride in different conditions that I do. AND, as is most often the case, the magazines compare new bikes with very little time to abuse the bikes with mud and water.

Maybe that is why the SP500 always wins... it does not have enough time to break.

You must be some kind of Nut! Who in their right mind would give up the Big Bear at that price. Man, I hope I never run across you while riding, as crazy as you are you might run into me or something! Boy, I hate I even read this post! I will not be able to sleep tonight knowing there is such a nut running loose in the streets! You must have some really stupid friends that helped you make that decision!

So Greg, how many months are a few months for my brakes to go bad? I have had the Rancher for 7 months and the Rubicon for 3 months and still no problems with the brakes??
