Hi I have a friend who needs your help. He has a 1990 300 4X4 with a bad head gaskett. Iwould like to know if when removing the head is the timing chain going threw it or can I just remove the head. to replace the head gasket you have to take the valve cover off, then take the camshaft out WHILE KEEPING TESTION ON THE TIMING CHAIN. i left slack in mine when i rebuild it and i had to take apart half of the bottom end to get the chain on the sprocket, and then pull the head off, replace the gasket and then reassemble. it is an over head cam so the cam is ontop of the head.
