I have a question i have been looking through this forum. I have notice that the people no the Quads i hope some can give me advice on how to do this. Ok 1. i am thinking of buying a TRX300EX that is great that it comes with an electric starter, but it is amanual i am looking for more of an autoamtic. I seei person on here talked abou the 250ex i guess honda coeming out with this model i Jan. Well i see alot critizing him. What caught my attention about the Driveline: Direct rear driveshaft. What is really wrong with haveing that on this machine. This machine i get is only going to stay strictly manufactured i do not want to modify the motor only i just want a machine from the honda dealer that has a automotic but sprorty. Years ago Honda came out with a machine a trx200sx 86 this was a fourstoke auto and electric + reverse. Now it would get up to 50mph and it could do some climbing to. Has any one seen this machine or know what i am talking about. What kind of Drive line did that have in it does anyone know and is the trx250ex a repleca of thata machine. Please Help dont criticize me i am just wanting to get some facts on what i should buy you know.

Thanks

Bri

I know exactly what your talking about.I had a 200sx once.Great machine. The 250EX isn't a replica of this quad, but it has the same engine as the recon. It appears to have much better suspension than the sx and disc brakes up front! The only reason they don't like the shaft drive or even the 250EX itself is because they were all hoping for a a 650EX full racer. There is nothing wrong with the shaft drive as long as you don't jump to much.Oh ya the sx was chain drive.

Do you mean automatic as in autoclutch or fully automatic (like a belt drive)? The 250EX has an autoclutch.

Yes outoclutch just like the 200sx was you had to shift it but not but useing a clutch though.

I think in time Honda will make a bigger quad but what they have now are nice too. And they sure last for years.

I would like to get a Honda but it has too be what i can ride though Electric starter, reverse, autoclutch.

Thanks

I have the 200SX and the auto clutch is cool....but most manual ATV's have it.
The 200SX is a strong machine...I just replaced the chain & sprockets and it drives like a bute!!

I had a 200SX too.. one of the most reliable machines i ever had and as far as i know ever made... with some good chains and a nice run it could climb some snowy/little icy trails that those big tuff 4x4's would just spin out, it was straight out easy to drive just start it up and shift with out a clutch lever, it was a chain driven model, beware though if the chain slips off it will probably crack the oil case(had it happen to me and i've heard others say that), i didnt care for the drum brakes, lost them after they froze one winter and my brother pulled it behind our pickup (dumb smuck) just my 2 pennies about it all

A 86 200sx was my first 4-wheeler. I beat the crap out of it and its still running. I rode with big 4x4s and kept up and went about everywhere they did. It was a fun quad. The 250ex is a moderinized 200sx. It has better suspention, bigger motor and shaft drive and new looks. I think it looks pretty cool! Shaft drive will be nice. It was a pain ajusting the chain on the 200. It is pretty easy on my 400ex though.

Go Here for some pictures of my 200sx

The 250 ex would be a great machine to start on it does have the foot shift only clutch in it.
IT DOES However have a 10 horsepower increase
over the recon because of a different head design
a lot of people need to do there homework before
yapping to loud.
I believe this puts this machine in the 24 range this should be plenty to push it.
