Default Fuel Leak??

Just bought a used 2002 Honda 350 Rancher and there is a fuel leak out of the bottom of the carberator. There is a hose barb fitting and a black drain hose attached to it. I know fuel is supposed to drain out but fuel is constantly leaking from this drain tube. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to fix this problem would be of great help. Thanks.

Only 4 things can cause this.

1. The needle that shuts off the fuel to the float bowl does not seal.
2. Dirt preventing the needle from seating
3. Float set too high.
4. Float filled with gas and has "Sunk" allowing the fuel level in the carb to rise untill it goes out the vent.

Yeah sounds like the carb is in need of a rebuild. It shouldn't cost you more that about $20 for a rebuild kit and should cure your problem.

Prolly a little more. I just did a carb on a 400ex and the needle alone was $36. They don't offer a "Kit" only piece by piece.

Hmm.. Browse the net, I have found rebuild kits for bikes that the dealer said didn't exsist. And I usually pick them up for around $20. The ones I have purchased come with the needle, jets, float assembly, idle mixture screw and gaskets.
