Supposed to be a very good product, Detroit has a very good name and a long history in the industry.
If you dont have selectable 2wd to 4wd, I reccomend the Warn 424 to go with that unit. The way a DT works is that it locks when under power from the engine, and unlocks when coasting. With the 424 (or factory traxlock) the engine power is cut to the locker so it unlocks and steering is easy.
I installed a HL spool in my forman, steering is much harder when going very slow over hardpack, but not noticeable at speed. The difference in traction from either locker in the rough is WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD!!!

Never had a wet belt ever.
Hubs are controled by electro magnets, put 12v to them and the cams engage the hubs when axel rpm exceeds wheel rpm, nothing too fancy, no electronics, no aftermarket parts needed.
Just a good idea that took everyone else 10 years to catch on to.
If I rode a bike with a open front diff I'd be buying a locker too.

IMO the Bombardier has the best front diff out now.
Suzuki had the first locker, and it worked in forward and reverse with the pull of a lever. Oh, and the first IRS.
Not many quads have a truly open differential nowadays (if its working right)
Do yourself a favor DennisC, do a search for DL problems. I've read a few bad posts on other forums about longevity. Maybe it was a unique issue or the problem has been solved. My simple torsen works well enough that I haven't been motivated enough to research anymore or buy one. There are times, but they are few and far between.
