I am curious here, which way does a longitudinally mounted single-cylinder four-stroke face in the Hondas, clutch side to the front or the rear of the machine? I assume the layout is similar to a conventional quad engine clutch on one end and stator and such on the other end?

 

Clutch side to the front. Flywheel side to the rear.

Terrific design, although more difficult to work on than the conventional layout.
