I have found a 250r that I may be intersted in but need a little insight. I found an 88 250r that needs a little work done to it. This is what the guy that is selling it emailed to me....."This is a private owner bike, it needs the engine case open because it will leak the tranny fluid out. It also needs eletrical work minor the rest of the quad is in good condition. The owner just wants to sell it he does not need it any more". He is asking $800 dollar for it but I have not seen it yet....The guy is suppose to email me some pictures of it soon. Does anyone have any ideas what I should do? I actually want to build it from the ground up and race it MX, but I want to keep the stock engine on it but bore it out.

An 88 R for $800!? Are you kidding? If the frame isn't in a pretzel, buy it! If the frame is in a pretzel, but the rest of it's there, buy it! If it's all there, buy it! Everything can be repaired, either with OEM or aftermarket.

How easy would it be to fix the tranny? Does anybody else have any suggestions?
