if you know how electricity works its not hard. the unit replaces/adds another 'kill' switch. just split that black control box on the left for the lights (the screws are on the back side) and splice the tether into a wire leading to the 'kill' switch. It shouldn't matter which. Maier makes good ones. (make sure to get the one for e-start models)

so i dont need one for racing, good cause it sounded like a pain in the butt to install anyway.cause i talked to these guys that race 400ex's,450r's and praries and they say its a must in any type of racing.

it might not be a must in the sense that its a rule, but its a really good idea. next time you get a hold of a clutched model, get off it, put it in first and let the clutch out. notice anything? its moving quite steadily and you arent on it. sure you can go catch it, but when you really fall off, you wont want to. ever try chasing a 20 horsepower engine on wheels with a broken leg and severe facial lacerations? methinks you dont wanna worry about chasing down your ride then. the 400 and 450 guys are prolly talking mainly about clutched bikes. However, the recon will do the same thing, but to a lesser degree because of the centrifugal clutch. Put it in 1st and jump off the back at about 2/3 throttle. Now, do it again, but before you jump off, pop the kill switch. Not only will your machine be less likely to run away, you can find it faster when you bail (it wont roll as far) . sure, you hafta start it again, but a warmed-up recon in good shape does so in about 1/2 second. It still strikes me as interesting that your track doesnt require one.

i suppose if you feel that you can either stay on the bike all the time, or when you do bail that it will be so bad that you wont know where you are and how you got there in the first place, you can skip the switch. but let it be known that there will be some guy in eastern missouri willing to walk you through installation if you ever need it.
