I am selling my recon and a go-cart soon to get another sport atv. It will be used as a back-up for when my dad is using the 400ex, for when friends come over so they don't have to bring anything, and for me to mess around on. How is the power compared to the 400ex. I know it won't be anywhere near the 400ex in hte power dept., but how about against the recon. I would just keep the recon, but after I have gotten used to the 400ex, a utility isn't enough anymore. What does everyone think of the 300ex?

I had a 300ex for about a year and really liked it.
You're right, the power isn't like that of the 400ex..but it is decent. I had my 300ex tweaked a bit w/ an FMF pipe and K&N filter.
I traded up to the 400ex for better suspension and better gearing.
I would recommend the 300ex to anyone who is looking to buy it.

Just my 2 cents here.....

My 300EX has a Super Trapp Exhaust, K&N air filter, Renthal handlebars, DG Alloy Nerf bars, soon a larger carb. and jet kit. I have had my 300EX on alot of different trails, it is great, and it is pretty fast for just about anyone really. I am 14 and love this thing, it seems to come back on you on really steep rock hill climbs. The only thing i would do to mine is a good pair of Works front shocks, for the fast trail rides. As far as major problems, I have had none.
