A Question to be answered....
#1
TextHello all. Im am new to the site as I am the atv world. I have always been around them and riding, but never my own. I went out and bought myslef a 99 Foreman 450es with 400 miles on it the other day. Being the first year of the electric shift there was a recall on them in 2000. Something about a chip that has a constant draw of power even when machine is off. Well anyway, he says he never got a notice for it and by the time he heard about it the dealer wouldnt fix it under the recall. They want to charge him $120 for the operation. Instead he had a charger hardwired into the battery.
My question is what can I do. Is there a way to contact honda about the recall and possibly get it fixed ? Or, is the dealer still responsible for the repair ?
Any information would be greatly appreciated thanks.

The issue you are refering to is not a recall, simply a service bulletin. Since it was a bulletin, it has a date that the bulletin expires. This bulletin expired at the end of March 2001. The module can still be purchased and installed onto your unit, at your cost. It will probably be next to impossable to get this bulletin done under warranty after 5 years have passed. Sorry
