Please I do not have experience with this motors but I ma learning fast. One more question that can be related to my problem. When the motor is switched of it sound like something in the motor is disengaging and windes down to a standstill. It sounds like a "fly" wheel that was running with the motor and after switching the motor off kept on running slows down and click in gear. This is the best i can describe it.

How long does that unwinding sound last? Is it a fraction of a second or several seconds?
On the fly wheel portion, I have opened that up many times. I have never seen oil in there, that is why I am thinking it is supposed to be dry. If in fact it should be dry, that will most likly be the problem.

I am not overly familiar with the trx300, so be kind to me.
Does it have electric start? Is the wind down noise a starter that doesn't disengage?
How about jacking up the atv so that all wheels are off of the ground, and seeing if the problem still exists when turning. That would tell if the enertia of turning effects it (as in fluid slushing around in turns).
Another forum had a similar problem, and the cause was a bad spark plug boot with corrosion in it. Another had a spark plug wire that was occasionally shorting out to the frame.
Just some things to consider...

I have checked all the wiring in the steering colum and along the frame. I think it must be in the motor, is this possible.

Just a thought!
Oh and the seal should be replaced also....that may or may not be the entire problem.

Hi thank you guys I thought i will let you know I got it running. I disassemble the hole harness clean all contacts, stator and all electrical parts. could not find a problem slap it all together and it runs like a baby. What the problem was I do not know. This one was saved from the junk yard. the timing chain jumped a teeth the valves was to tight it smoked and kept on misfiring got it all sorted out and I have got a very happy boy.
