Default another 450r question

ok, as anyone whos seen the many posts I put up in only a few days im sure you can see im obsessed about getting my quad. ok, hers my problem, I was getting all excited that 04 450R's were down in the low low 4g price range used. then the mag comes out and i get it and see the 06, different bore/stroke and lot more power. now my basic question here is, is the stock 04 TRX450R a good enough/fast enough quad that I am not gonna be dissapointed and wish I had droped the extra 3g's for the 06.

I would most likely have a full exhaust, powerfilter, jet kit and rev box installed within a matter of days afer I bought it if Im saving 3 grand over new, and probably a hot cams stage 2 and maybe even tear it down and step it up to a 520.

with the basic boltons and the cam, would I hang with a stock 06? a 06 with the HRC?

i dont know if you have a quad now or not, so getting an 04 450R will not disappoint you in the speed department, since it will be faster than nothing!

anyway, no, i do not think you will be dissapointed in a used or leftover new 04/05 TRX450R.
they are suprisingly pretty quick and very reliable.

mine's stock, no mods and has been up against slightly modded (pipes, jetting, etc) yfz's, 450Rs, raptors and it wasnt too far behind them (it will beat a stock raptor in pure acceleration and is dang close to yfzs), maybe 2-3 bike lenghts at the most. heavily modded banshees, 450R's, and YFZs are a different story though...you will get your @ss handed to you!

Dealers all over still have leftover 05's NEW for alot less then the 06 model. the 06 is bad@ss and even badder with the HRC kit for it, no doubt about it. BUT, if i was you, save your money, get the 04/05 model try it out stock and mod it later if you become a power *****...

however, i dont thik any simple "bolt ons" are gonna put you in a 06R power territory without going into the engine. a cam, piston, porting, carb, pipe, etc will get you closer in the bike length spread, but not gonna win. however, take those same mods and porting and mix it with an athena 480 kit (it's quality and isnt that expensive and comes with the piston and stuff - go google it)... you may save a couple $Gs and be very near the 06R with the HRC kit with these mods.. but its your decision get what you like, have fun, ride responsible!

Hey twenty, I see you're from Louisiana. Where do you ride? We're always looking for new places to check out.

well, tenesee is very far away, but im sure I can find a dealer closer to me to do the same thing. whats the deal with out of state taxes? if I bought it out of state you dont pay sales tax until you get it5 back to your state? or do you not have to pay? I might get one from oregon and register it at my friends address for no sales tax. I found an 05 for 5700 with no setup and crap in oregon but its and 05 and I want a 06 is I buy new.
