I was wondering if the '86 rear shock was the same length as an '89 shock? Can you run a '86 rear shock on an '89 with no problems?

The 86 shock is different than the 89. The swingarm lengths and linkages are different. I put a freshly rebuilt 88 shock on my 87 and it was not as good as my worn out 87 shock. I think the 87 shock made the rear end sit higher too.
