Does a 400ex fare well on the trails with varied terrain?

Assuming one has the skill to make use of the machine's abilities, one couldn't go wrong with it. I personally am not enamoured with some of the 400EX's qualities, but it's trail qualifications are impressive, and this from a satisfied Warrior rider! The Ohtsu tires, altho giving excellent traction, aren't the best choice in very rocky or otherwise rough terrain due to their relatively thin sidewalls, but then, most oem tires leave something to be desired.

The 400ex is one of the best trail quads out there. There are faster quads im sure (250r, piped banshee, raptor.....etc) but in the woods a 400 can run even or ahead of just about any other quad (depending on rider ability) If you want to ride mostly dunes, I would buy a DS650. If your looking for speed and a "nice" trail bike buy a raptor (the reverse is handy) And If all you want is top speed, buy a banshee and modify it. I have a 400ex and it is the only thing i would ride. I love the way it handles on the trails and in the air. Hope I helped

I have 22" Swamper TSL's, floats across the mud leaving a nice rooster tail. And, it still slides really good. The 22" gave me a little extra clearance.
