thats true but thing is if ur gonna put that kind of money out why not go up to a 300 instead of 250 cuz they can be driven just as slow and he wont grow out of it as quick and u can put performance parts on it as he grows more comfortible with it and itl take longer for him to grow out of that way im telling u your best bet would be a 300 and youl never look back upon it

it was my first sport quad but now im 16 and i had no problem with it and i had a big bear 400 befor that but now ive given it to my 15 year old girl friend and she has no problem with it and its her very first quad

also what about the shaft drive it would last a lot longer and again all we are doing is trail riding and my son is small he looks like hi is 13 but hes 15 but what is better shaft drive or chain

Go ahead and get the 300ex. My buddy has one hes 16 5'9 about 115ibs he has a 300ex it has lots of mods and he can man handle the quad. He is get ready to buy somthing in the 400 class range. Your sons big enough for a 300ex I thing it would be the perfect quad for him.

I recomend the Raptor 350, it's a perfect beginners quad and it has a little more power than the 300ex (282(ex) vs. 348(Raptor). When I bought my Raptor I rhode both and liked the Raptor 350 a little better. The Raptor will also climb hills a little easier. It's also a great beginner quad too.
