rev limeter upgrades and others for 300ex help!!!!

For some reason everyone seems to think jet kits are pure gold. Jet kits are an enormous waste of money. What do you get out of the kit...a new needle and clip and a bunch of jets you won't use. A rev box on a stock 300 EX engine is also a waste there is no need to rev the stock engine any higher then it does already, say the engine makes it's power at 5000 rpm (just as an example) and the rev limiter kicks in at 5800, and the rev box allows it to rev to 6500...what good is that extra RPM if the engine is actually making LESS power up there, just SHIFT!
Try something like running without the air box lid, or put a hole in the top of it. If your wanting a little more top end bump up to a 14 T front...all thought it might be a little steep with a 34 rear. As for "good aftermarket parts" I am not sure what this means ? Do you mean engine stuff, plastic, graphics, skid plates, tires...what ? Google would be a good place to search. And loose the Cobra pipe if your looking for good stuff.

The best mod you can do to the 300ex is to put the air tube off the 350X on it. It is the rubber tube that goes from the air box to the carb.
This lets a great deal more air flow and really settles down the cold blooded nature of the quad. This is especially helpful when trying to engage the reverse when the bike is cold.
Good luck finding one of these. Best mod I've ever done. Cheapest to.
Google or Yahoo for a 300ex mod list that Mickey Dunlap published years ago.
It lists the best mods and what order to do them in so each upgrade builds on the other. It lists the approx prices to so you can budget properly. Just add for inflation.
I have a 70hp Raptor and 2 450Rs and still love to ride my 300ex. One of the reasons I've kept it so long is because I followed Mickeys list in the order he recommended. The bike just kept getting better and better.
Do yourself a favor and stop listening to your brothers friend who had a cousin that put a whatever on their bike and it broke the local police radar gun because it was so fast. If you want to beat the kid down the street who has a 400ex, get a 450R.
If you want a great 300ex look for Mickeys list.
Have a great New Years, I'm going to Glamis.

It goes right on. You will have to get a crankcase filter for the breather hose though. They cost between $10-15 from an atv shop. Someone from your area could probably find one at an Autozone or similar auto parts store for less than $10.
I tried to google the Mickey Dunlap 300ex hop up list but could not find it. I will try to find it in my archives and post for you.

Every word SFA said I say again. Jet kits especially. I couldn't find the Mickey list either. Personally, I would hit up the tire market. RockyMountian has them cheap and free shipping over 99 bucks. I'm always bustin up that stoopid skid plate too. Nerfs are cool and fuctional, and don't even get me started about that stupid K&N business (note my signature) but UNI is better. I like my filtered airbox too. Made it myself for like 10 bucks and it's just as flow-ey and way safer than no lid.

Ooh. Pipe you say. My HMF is extra cool. For lent I gave up first gear. It hits really hard at the bottom, and I certianly didn't lose at the top end. Seems to scream a tad higher with the silencer in though.
If it's respect you're looking for, don't unload your wallet on parts so you can beat your homeboys. Unload your wallet on riding area permits and learn how to RIDE. Even if you're already cool, get better.
Loose a race to a rich dude on a loaded 450R, and watch the look on his face. Out-wheelie a rich dude on a loaded 450R and watch the look on his face. I imagine you'll see a bit of a difference.
