I can't address the ones in your price range. I spent a bit more and got the Garmin III+ which has the map function.
I've really enjoyed downloading county information and having all the roads displayed.
I use this on the dashboard in place of a roadap.

I assume that you will use the GPS for atving and not road navigation? If so you should consider the Garmin E-Trex. It is tiny and waterproof. It works excellently in dense cover although it has lost it's bearings in very deep heavily forested valleys. It recovered quickly, however. It does not have some of the advanced mapping features that the higher end models have but I have never needed them. It always gets me back to my starting place. I paid about $100 for it and have never regretted it. Instead of buying an expensive ($85) GPS mounting system I just put velcro on the back and attached it in front of the gas cap on my Rancher. The velcro is black and when the GPS is not attached it looks clean.

i'm with big on this one. my cousin has a garminIII. It all depends on what you want for features. this one has the road maps plus it tracks all of your moves. which comes in handy all you have to do is follow your tracks back. Another thing we do is when we find new trails or whatever save them. and they will show up as roads in the future. but i believe this one is in the 300 dollar range

Just make sure you get one with a 12 parallel channel receiver or else you'll never get it to work in the woods.
